How to access your COVID-19 vaccine passport

Leah Panapa 17/11/2021

LISTEN: If you are fully vaccinated you can apply for your vaccine passport from today.

When we head into the new traffic light system, you're going to need to show proof of being vaccinated for just about everything you want to do; to get into hospitality and entertainment venues, probably your place of work, your doctor, dentist or vet and to take an international flight when travel resumes.

Dr Andrew Chen is a research fellow at the Centre for Informed Futures at the University of Auckland and has had a look at the passport.

He says before getting your vaccine passport you will need to create a My Covid Record account.

"In order to do this, you will need either a RealMe account or your drivers' licence, passport, birth certificate that was generated after 2003 or a citizenship certificate," Dr Chen told Magic Talk. This will confirm who you claim to be.

Once this information is confirmed your vaccination records, including where you received your vaccine shots and the date you got them.

  • Find your COVID-19 vaccination record here.

Dr Chen says you will then find on the My Covid Record website a button to generate your vaccine pass which will be emailed to you as a PDF document that you can print or download.

There is also a button that will create an international travel certificate if you are planning on going abroad.

"It really is not that hard," he told Magic Talk.
