On this day in 1966, The Beach Boys released their widely popular album 'Pet Sounds,' which today is considered to be one of the most influential albums in music history.
'Pet Sounds' is the eleventh studio album by the american rock band, which inlcudes a mixture of pop styles, with a bit of rock and psychedelic touches to some songs.
As recent as 2003, Rolling Stones ranked the album 2nd on the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list. While New Musical Express, The Times and Mojo Magazine all came to the conclusion that nothing could top the album.
The album was initially titled 'Our Freaky Friends,' with their label at the time planning the cover photo shoot at the San Diego Zoo to promote their 'freaky friends,' who all turned out to be goats.
When the Zoo got angry at being associated with the band and it's album, Brian Wilson let slip that they had their own title they were thinking of going with. So they called it 'Pet Sounds.'
