A father and daughter live off the grid in captivating film

The AM Show 27/07/2018

The film that gained 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, Leave No Trace is the latest from award-winning author Debra Granik.

Ms Granik joined The AM Show ahead of her New Zealand International Film Festival debut to explore why the film means so much to her.

Set in Portland, Oregon and starring Kiwi actress Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie, the mesmerising film follows a 13-year-old living off the grid with her war vet father.

The film follows the pair as they set on a journey to find a place to call their own.

“When people relate to the story the way it’s told… [it] makes me happy.”

She describes her movie as humble, saying “you need to cultivate the audience”, which she focuses on with detail in Leave no Trace.
