Rod Stewart, Elton John "spat" over "money-grabbing tour"

The good-natured jokes may have gone too far when Rod, last year in March, criticised Elton for the frequency of his farewell tours.

Long time friendly rivals Sir Rod Stewart and Sir Elton John may have crossed the lines of their traditionally competitive relationship as Rod revealed that the pair haven’t spoken in months.

The good-natured jokes may have gone too far when Rod, last year in March, criticised Elton for the frequency of his farewell tours.

Given Elton John’s history of retiring from music, final tours and last shows it appears the Rod’s comments may hit too close to home.

Most recently Rod revealed in a radio interview, “I do love Elton, only we’re not talking at the moment. We’ve had a spat.”

Explaining why he says, “because I criticised his tour as being money-grabbing.” In an earlier TV interview Rod had said the tour “stinks of selling tickets”.

As if twisting the knife deeper Rod goes on to compliment Freddie Mercury biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ as a “great rock ‘n’ roll film” while lamenting Elton’s own foray into the genre with “Rocketman” saying, “I don’t think this quite lived up to it.”

The pair have been like a married couple for more than 50 years, pet names and all. Elton and John, ‘Sharon’ and ‘ Phyliss’ respectively have been outperforming one another in terms of sales, concerts, outfits and sexual conquests with nothing off limits.

But this latest “tiff” may have broken through, or as Rod hopes is merely a passing thing.
