Legendary singer Ronnie Spector dies at 78

Ronnie Spector passed away after a brief battle with cancer.

Singer Ronnie Spector, the founder of the girl group, 'The Ronettes' has passed away aged 78, after her short battle with cancer. She was best known for 60's hits including 'Be My Baby', 'Baby, I Love You' and 'Walking in the Rain'. 

The family posted a statement on Ronnie's website, describing she lived her life with "a twinkle in her eye, a spunky attitude, a wicked sense of humour and a smile on her face".

Ronnie's family requested fans to make donations to their local women's shelter or to the American Indian College Fund instead of giving flowers.

The family also plan to announce a celebration of Ronnie's life and music in the future.

Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson, left a tribute to his dear friend, sharing that the news "breaks my heart."
